Android ONENOTE Update 2
Things were really starting to take shape in this release both from a personality and feature set stand point.
PERSONALITY
This release received a major facelift. The iconography was now consistent across 3 of the major platform offerings (the 3 that I lead the UX for, iOS excluded) and the application of color now served as a utility for location in the hierarchy as well as enforcing brand personality.
First Run
A newly emerging trend at the time. First class mobile apps were starting to look at ways to introduce their experience and feature sets to new adopters. I proposed the model which presented the swipe carousel on first launch or launch after update. I also created the set of visuals for each of the info screens outlining the newest feature updates for wave 2.
Widgets
Designed for V1 and released in V2.
Formatting
An improved interaction over it's cousin Windows Phone app. Not the light weight floater command bar we wanted but you could at least see the applied formatting changes in real time.
Audio Notes
The first introduction of audio notes on any of the platform offerings. This design would serve as the pattern for the upcoming Windows Phone release.
MULTI SELECT
Manage notebooks and sections, pin notes to Recent view and email multiple notes.
Search
Quickly find the notes and sections you're looking for. Search results are organized by title and page content relevance.
Android Tablet
When we approached the second release we intentionally designed the command interface to scale and leverage the density-independent pixel capabilities that Ice cream sandwich introduced. This paid off when devices like the Kindle Fire were introduced with controlled 1st party marketplaces.
Android OneNote First Release
Back in the day when OS names were extra sticky, Office mobile released its first version of OneNote for the Android platform. In all respects a baseline experience, mirroring constrictively, the Windows Phone feature set as to not devalue the 1st party offering. As the first Office Android designer, I championed the understanding of the platforms UI guidelines and ecosystem, assisting with the front end development process in close partnership with the Beijing development and PM team.
